What a Day Looks Like for an RBT at The Sunshine Academy

If you are considering RBT work in Broken Arrow — or you already hold the credential and want a clinic that still feels like a team — here is what a shift actually looks like at The Sunshine Academy. We run two clinic sites: 2208 W Detroit Street and 304 N Beech Circle. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm.

This is the staff view, not a parent tour of a child's session. It is the job: morning setup, session blocks, data, breaks, and a BCBA who is in the building when you need them.

Morning prep

You start at your assigned site with a few quiet minutes before the first learner walks in. You check the day's caseload, pull the materials your BCBA staged, and glance at the targets so you are not improvising at 8:15. Detroit Street and Beech Circle are real clinics. You are not driving a bin across town between houses, and you are not guessing which room is free.

If a plan changed overnight, you hear it from a supervisor who is on site — not a message from someone covering three cities.

Session blocks and data

The middle of the day is 1:1 session time. You run the program as written, stay with the learner, and keep the block moving. Between kids you reset the space, jot what worked, and get ready for the next hour. The pace is full. It is not a mill: you are not stacked with no air between cases, and you are not handed a brand-new program with nobody to ask.

Data is part of the shift, not homework you take home. You collect as you go so the BCBA can see the picture the same day. We treat that as a skill we coach.

Breaks and BCBA support

You get breaks. Coverage is planned so you are not eating in a hallway while still on the clock. When a session gets hard, you can flag a BCBA who is in the building. They will step in, model, or take the moment with you. That is the difference from clinics where the BCBA is a name on a schedule.

Who thrives here

People who last here tend to:

  • Like kids and stay steady when a session does not go to plan

  • Want a clinic with a team in the next room, not a solo home case

  • Take feedback without getting brittle

  • Collect data well because they know it drives the next decision

  • Want to grow — more skill, more hours, maybe a later certification path — without being treated like a revolving door

If you need a factory that hires anyone and burns them out in four months, we are the wrong fit. If you want a Broken Arrow clinic that still feels like a team, we should talk.

Want to see a shift?

We hire RBTs at both locations. Email hello@thesunshine.academy or call 918-900-6237, Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm. Tell us you want to talk about the RBT role and we will get you to the right person.
